 How does the choice of band featured in the article suggest what the target audience will be?

The band which has been chosen for the article is appropriate for the magazine because there band makes the type of music for the genre of the magazine also they have ‘secret album’ which is going to make people who listen to that type of music, buy the magazine and people who like the ‘The fall out boys’ would also buy the magazine to gain knowledge on the favorite band.

What type of language is used in the article? Give examples of words or phrases which are specific to the style of the magazine.

The type of language that is used is one that has subtle humor this is specific to the style of the magazine because it shows to the reader that the magazine is light hearted and fun. Also the magazine doesn't use a letter to indicate the peoples name in the article which could suggest that the band is not that well known and is a new band.

How is color used?

There are dark colors used to represent the rock group because rock groups are usually associated with dark colors  However there is a red which is a bright color and is usually used to indicate danger which again is normally represented to rock music groups.

The style of text which is used is just normal font type in black and the questions that have been asked are in red

The sort of tone which the magazine is using is as a close friend because as the article reads it’s give a sense of that the writer wants the reader to be informed as friend and that’s how the article reads.

the band is presented to the audience through the picture as being chill because they are standing all looking into the camera and there outfits don’t suggest that they are too wild like most rock groups.

How does the style of the article match the style of the front cover of the magazine?

The style of the article matches the front cover because there is a black background on the top left with a scratched effect on it similar to the cover also the color red id used a lot to represent danger.

Mood Board

This is a mood board which i have created to see what style other rock music magazine are so that i can get an idea of how to format my magazine.

This mood board consists of rock music magazines covers. most of the camera shot which is being used is a mid shot which which shows there head and torso. The things that they are wearing are basic colors like black or white which for a rock group is typical because they are portrayed as being dull also on the 'BringMeTheHorizon'  they have a blood effect on there t-shits which is also typically used for rock groups as some sub-genres are thought to be gory. The overall representation of these rock groups is that they are dark the colors that are used for the cover help this representation come through. The fonts which are used are clean and bold and they also stick out. the font style for the 'Kerrang' magazines is one that looks like a smashed record the others like the 'Classic rock' magazines is that it looks clean and professional  and so do the rest. the color scheme for the 'Kerrang' magazines is that the bands which are on the front are wearing dark and have dark backgrounds which is traditionally the color rock groups are associated  with. the 'classic rock' also have used dark colors. the type of articles which are featured on the front of these magazine consist of articles including information on the band on the front cover, gig dates and they also include other articles of other bands.

Title Block Analysis

The genre of this music magazine ‘KERRANG!’ is rock. The colour used in the title font tells me that they are original, there is crack lines or guitar strings which tells us that it is a rock magazine. The font tells us that the magazine is going to be bold and eye catching. The title itself tells me that the magazine is rock, which feels to give their reader all the news about rock musicians and bands which their target audience would love to read about.

Q magazine does not really have a genre of music, its main interest is new releases and upcoming artists, and they also base on interviews. The colours used are red and white, that makes the magazine look sophisticated and their target audience are not teenager’s maybe. The title itself tells me that they have a older target audience who enjoy reading latest music news, it has a simple title but has a lot to deliver with their knowledge of music

The genre of this music magazine ‘NME’ is indie/rock. The colour used in the title font tells me that its likes to get known and noticed of their music magazine, as there is red black and white being used. That indicated their target audience would love to listen to musicians who stand out. The title itself tells me that the magazine likes to give big news that their readers would like to read big latest news about indie/rock musicians.

This survey which I created is to get a rough idea of what people like to see on a magazine and what to put inside my magazine when I have created it. This first question is getting a rough idea of how many times my magazine should be released.For the survey you can clearly see how many times people want a new magazine published, the majority of people want a new issue every month however just one less

Would like a new issue every week so by the information that is on the table I gather that people want a new issue of a magazine very soon so I will have to release a new magazine every fortnight just to suit everyone and give them roughly want they want.

This question I get an idea of what people would like to see inside the magazine ‘mainstream artists’ or ‘unsigned artists’ from this question I gathered that the people that done the survey would like to see mainstream artists but other people also would like to see unsigned artists so when creating the magazine I would have think about putting more mainstream artists because that’s what the people are interested in but I would also need to put some information about unsigned artists to get more people to be interested in my magazine.

This question was to gain information of what people would like to see on the front cover because the magazine front cover is what is going to be representing the magazine so I thought that this was a vital question to know what was the most important  thing I should make look really good on the magazine, majority of people think that the main image is the most important part of the magazine front cover so I will be mainly focusing on this to entice the user to pick up and buy my magazine, with that said I will still put a lot of effort into the other features making the magazine look up-to-date.

This question was just gain information of what gender my magazine will be produced for. From the survey I know that most of the people interested are male this gives an insight of what the type of users I will be making the magazine for, with that said I will also have to make the magazine compatible with both genders to increase my target audience.

This question was to get an idea of how large my target market/audience is and what other type of genres people are interested in. I knew that ‘R&B’ would be the most voted because the ‘R&B’ music genre is one of the biggest but he genre that I have gone is ‘rock’ which is only behind by one vote which means when I make the music magazine with the genre ‘rock’ I know that I will have a good per cent of the market that will be willing to buy my magazines. From the other answers I could also intertwine other genres into my magazine.

I asked this question on the survey because I wanted to know if people would access some of the information in my magazine online. The majority of people said yes which means that I can put the information up onto a web page and people would still look at the information. The power that comes with a music magazine website is unreal because once they go onto the website you can get them to stay with the magazine offering a subscription or special weekly events to get the user to get the magazine but also get the user to go on the website.

This question was the most important question that I asked on the survey because this would decide the name of my magazine which I am going to be creating. This question shows me that people that would want to buy a music magazine with the genre of rock music would like to see the name ‘BreakDown’ this is a term that is used in rock music to indicate when the song is past the intro and going towards the main part, that is why I thought it would be an appropriate to name my magazine after that. From the survey I am going to be calling my music magazine ‘BreakDown’ and I am going to make it with the genre rock music.

Magazine Second Cover Analysis

This type of magazine is a music/rock music magazine. From the front cover the type of articles that are going to be inside are interviews with bands, reviews, secret albums released and posters. The target audience for this magazine is people form their teens and up also people that like rock music. The interests of the target audience is maybe keeping up to date with their favourite band and finding out when new albums are coming out.

 The modes of address from the central image and text is that it says that ‘here to wake up your town’ and the person is holding a megaphone suggesting that they are going to talk about something within the magazine. The type of relationship that it wants with the reader is that inside the magazine there is going to be an influx of information.

Sleeping with siren is on the front cover of the magazine because they are a rock group and the genre of the magazines rock music. The anchorage says ‘sleeping with sirens-here to wake up your town’ in this sense because sleeping with sirens are a screamo band that they are going to wake up your town, the magazine is using play on words. The overall message the artist is giving is a friendly and that they are joking around because some of them are pulling faces and the one in the middle is looking directly into the camera to give the reader a sense that they are looking directly at them. Yes groups are being represented, the main group is sleeping with sirens and they are represented with a picture and text so are my chemical romance, green day and fall out boys, Metallica are represented just by text by the magazine to suggest there might be a little article on them and not a big one.

 The buzzword is ‘revealed’ this gives the effect that it is exclusive information and was a secret. The design of the title block tells the reader that the magazine is full of hard-core rock music information because it is all in block capitals and it looks like it has been cut up. The title of the magazine tells the reader that it is well known because the middle image is half covering the title so people would know the name otherwise they wouldn’t do that.

 The puffs on the magazine front cover suggest that there will be exclusive information inside and also there will be interviews with bands inside, the target audience that the magazine is trying get to read the magazine are people looking to gain information on their favourite bands and gain information on new bands, also they have a free poster inside to try a tempt the reader to buy it.

There is no slogan on the front of the magazine. The colours that are used is red with a yellow spiral theses colours nice because they make me want to read it and find out what is inside. The font that that is used is big, bold and all in capitals which makes it stand out so that it catches the reader’s eye so they buy it. The strategies that the magazine uses to attract an audience is using posters and also saying that they have exclusive information to offer the reader which would attract people because they can’t get the information anywhere else.
